Science- Filtering microfibres
In Science this half term, we are looking at the impact of humans on the environment. We have explored plastic pollution and how this enters our environments and the effects this has on food chains too. This week, the children are investigating which material would best filter out microplastics and microfibres from water sources, such as the washing machine. We used sand and had the option of several different materials including: cotton, hessian, crepe paper, filter paper and sieves. The children had great fun and then ranked the materials from best to worse. Miss Harris saw some great collaboration between the groups and it was nice to see all children taking turns, so everyone had a go and a voice.
