Today we were very lucky to have an Author and Illustrator visit us in our classroom. Jill Newton read one of her books to us- Mungo makes new friends! 

After we listened to the story, we talked about what we liked about the book. 

We were then very fortunate that Jill asked the children for their input to illustrate and narrate their very own story. The children began with the character Rosie the tiger, she wasn't very happy because she had to dig up the Roses! Then along came Jamie the Monkey - he was a little bit cheeky - swinging in his tree throwing apples at Rosie. The next character was introduced, No name the elephant. No name kept spraying water over Rosie as she was digging. As you can imagine, Rosie was not very happy about all of this! Jill and the children decided that something needed to happen to make Rosie happy... so along came our next character, Pippa the sausage dog. Pippa came and planted lots of flowers. This was Rosie's happy ending. 

Finally, the children decided on a name for their illustrative story...Welcome to Tiger Farm.

The children and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit from Jill Newton. Thank-you Jill!
