Today we used cubes to write down the four addition number sentences we could write for 3+2. We used our knowledge of partitioning a whole number and the use of the + and = symbols. The children moved the representations of numbers about physically before writing these number sentences down. Using these concrete resources helped enable the children to begin a mastery approach to understanding number sentences.
